Russian cathedral.

Now that my Europe vacation is done, it is time to catch up on my backlog of pictures.

I am blessed to be the photographer for Vakhtang and Alina at the Russian Cathedral in September. The church is beautiful, and it is definitely a fun crowd to be with.

It is a relatively dark church, but I am glad the pictures come out perfectly!

Finally it's the time for vacation!!! So if you are trying to email me from my website mlamphotography.com , then SORRY! but I will be roaming around in the streets of Barcelona, or maybe sitting at the beach in Cannes / Nice, or gambling in Monte Carlo, or shopping in Milan, or visiting musuems in Florence, or riding watertaxi in Venice..... but probably not sitting in front of my computer working. (ok fine.. i am actually addicted to email, so I will still check my email frequently probably)

Anyways, if you are trying to contact me and I don't reply, you know where I am!

The moon festival!

The moon / mid autumn festival!! To reminisce the old times where you hold a lantern and run around for no reasons, or when you boil the wax to create fire that is 2 stories high, or when you eat mooncakes till you can't eat it anymore.... the good ol' days.

Nowadays, we don't really do those anymore. And traditional mooncakes are supplemented by new ages ones, how about coffee flavored mooncakes?? Ice skinned green bean mooncakes?? oh well, what can I say, I like all of those! me and dessert!

As I don't set out fire hazards anymore, then the only good use for the time is to take some pictures of the moon:

Frank & Adrianne

The good thing about living in California is that we see a lot of outdoor weddings. On 8/23/08, Frank and Adrianne decided to tie the knot at the Stinson Beach, near the Golden Gate bridge.

It was a small, intimate and lovely wedding. And I had my first shot of the wedding unity sand ceremony!

Jeff & Meredith

One of the fun things I get to experience as a wedding photographer are the creativity in a wedding. Jeff and Meredith has a casual and intimate wedding at Berkeley Faculty Club on the lucky day (well at least for Chinese) 08.08.08. , and I especially like the little touches like the ducky on the cup cakes. Scroll down and you will know what I mean!

Drag the shutter?

Usually at the end of a wedding shoot, when I have all the "sharp" shots covered, and the party is getting wild, I would like to use this great opportunity to play around with the shutter to create some playful effect. This is usually the time when I can have a little fun without the immense time pressure that are usually associated with the rest of the day.

Pictures are worth a thousand words, so I will let them explain:




Dancing shots are great for these effect. It adds a bit motion and dynamics to it.

Meeting Mr. & Mrs. Pursell

I was referred to Dave by a friend of mine. Dave plans to have a very small wedding celebration with immediate family only. He wants to have someone capture the moments during their registration at the SF City hall, it was a last minute thing, and asked me if I would be able to do it.

I say NO PROBLEM! It is always fun to shoot wedding celebrations, and the smaller, intimate setting allow me to know the couple and their families more.
