Drag the shutter?

Usually at the end of a wedding shoot, when I have all the "sharp" shots covered, and the party is getting wild, I would like to use this great opportunity to play around with the shutter to create some playful effect. This is usually the time when I can have a little fun without the immense time pressure that are usually associated with the rest of the day.

Pictures are worth a thousand words, so I will let them explain:

Dancing shots are great for these effect. It adds a bit motion and dynamics to it.

Yo, DJ, spin that wheel! ... errr.. i mean Ipod!

I love how the couple is cherishing the moments while the guests are just plain having fun!

Meeting Mr. & Mrs. Pursell

I was referred to Dave by a friend of mine. Dave plans to have a very small wedding celebration with immediate family only. He wants to have someone capture the moments during their registration at the SF City hall, it was a last minute thing, and asked me if I would be able to do it.

I say NO PROBLEM! It is always fun to shoot wedding celebrations, and the smaller, intimate setting allow me to know the couple and their families more.

The lovely bride

I love the energy of the couple! That's why I am in this industry!

Yay!

Well... how can it be a celebration without the obligatory jumping shot?

Your best friend...... no.. the other best friend...

They say dogs are human's best friend.... so in the spirit of sharing some of my non wedding related pictures, I just have to post some of these cute little puppys' pictures!!

To be frank, I don't personally have a dog, I guess I don't have a best friend then... maybe someday I will

The Australian shepard.. He's my friend's, and I have babysit him for the weekend, which means perfect opportunity to have some dog portrait session

Tired of looking at me now?

Hanging out with the turtles... (don't tell him they are only plush dolls!)

Another "best friend"!!

Random posting first!

Besides wedding related photography, there's always some other pictures I have always wanted to share. So I thought why not start the blog with some random pictures I took when I travel. Here are some pictures I took when I was in germany.

For those who don't know, this is Cologne, Germany. And this is the Kölner Dom

The obligatory night shot of the Dom. Technically not great, as I didn't bring my tripod and I was handholding it with my ultra wide angle which doesn't have IS. So I have to hold the camera like holding a sniper rifle (and not like I have ever tried). But I still like it.

The day shot. I especially love the clouds that day. Shooting from the ground looking up, with the dramatic sky as the back drop, definitely help show the grandness of the architecture.

Inside Dom

For whatever reason, I especially love this bird shot. I love the composition of it, and I love how the bird is trying to drink from the facet. The facet and the sink provide a rustic backdrop, also the neck of the bird gives a very nice contrast of color from the rest of the picture.

FIRST POST!

Life is full of the unexpected, huh? I am never a "blog" person, but here I am, writing my first post on my first blog ever (finally).

And for what?

For photography!!!! Of course!

It has been a real pleasure to be working on the wedding photography business, where I get to meet all kind of interesting, happy people. Most importantly, I get to be there, on their biggest, happiest day of their lives, and capture them, so the couple can "re live" their biggest day in future days.

How cool is that!

In the coming days, I shall talk about my journey as a photographer.... or maybe just random things in general.... hmmm.. what will it be? what will it be?
